As the name suggests this pepper is both hot and sweet. Large 4 to 6" fruits are held above the foliage and are very ornamental, turning from shades of lime green to scarlet. Naturally dwarf habit 18" tall, makes it perfect for use in patio containers and small gardens. Scoville Rating: 30,000-40,000

This was my 2nd year growing Alter Ego. It was a hot dry summer and the fruit was much hotter than the Atomic even though Alter Ego was rated 40,000 Scovilles and Atomic was 90,000. Both varieties were loaded with fruit with no blossom end rot.
