(VFFFN GLS) 75 Days. 2014 AAS Winner. A praise-worthy variety offering multiple resistances not typically combined in most varieties. Deep red, 8 to 10 oz, fruits are firm, oblate to flattened, with generally smooth blossom end scars - makes the perfect slicing tomato. A fresh market variety with excellent resistance to cracking. Determinate.

Good for hot humid climate

Grown in New Orleans, Zone 9B, for several years. They hold up well in the heat and humidity. We have the ideal climate for all kinds of diseases, so I pick seeds that have a lot of letters behind their names! Mountain Merit does well. It comes back in the cooler season and produces again.

Been growing MM for at least 6 years!! The disease resistance is hard to beat. I find it semi determinate and it lasts later than expected. I am canning this tomato. It is also mighty tasty!!! We had a bad disease year in 2023 and my MM held up great!! Happy with the yields!!! Ordering again!

My Go To in Zone 8b South

My heaviest, most reliable producers after years of research in Zone 8b South. Abundant fruit, great foliage protection, great disease package. These are large plants that need plenty of room and a strong support system. I have found using 60" tomato cages that are secured with poly line to work best.

Productive, but seems susceptible to blossom end rot

I grew 'Mountain Merit' in two locations; at my home and at a local community garden. It had the most incidence of blossom end rot of the tomato varieties grown at both locations. We had an unusual number of 90F days that occurred sporadically throughout the summer which may have affected it, with either under or overwatering. Otherwise, it was very
productive and had good flavor. I may try again next year.
