The first tomato to beat Brandywine in taste tests! We all love Brandywine - that wonderful Amish treasure generally considered to be the world's finest flavored tomato. But in our California trials, heirloom Caspian Pink has beaten Brandywine for several years! Originally grown in Russia in the area between the Caspian and Black Seas.

A good choice for SF Bay Area gardeners, it is my replacement for German Pink. Produces better, more reliably than German Pink in our unpredictable climate (cool summer? hot summer? who knows until it happens). Very nice flavor, though better when we get warmer weather. Definitely wins a spot yearly in my garden.
